This was done as a birthday present for my brother-in-law featuring him as the star of a cologne advert. By luck I already had a good photo of him that had been taken as a joke a couple of years before by my sister. I then set about retouching the AcQua Di Parma image (one of his favourite fragrances) and changed its name to incorporate one of my sister’s nicknames for him, and merged his retouched image into a background picture of the Michigan Avenue Bridge in Chicago, his hometown. Finally some text was added to describe the fragrance and give it an Illinois slant (the reference to Butkus is of the formidable Chicago Bears linebacker who was a childhood hero of his) in an overblown, pretentious style that cologne adverts are well known for! The finished artwork was printed as a fine art print on satin photographic paper. I am told the picture now resides in his bedroom, well out of the way of visitors who may be forgiven for thinking he has tickets on himself!
